QUANTUM CRESCENDO FILM SUPERCUT

INTRO

This is the second video in my new “Music in Motion” series, a collection of visual interpretations of my tracks for my website and YouTube channel. While this is the second release, it was actually the first one I created.

My music is often inspired by film. Sometimes a story unfolds in a track that deserves to be told visually as well as audibly. Scoring a film has long been a dream of mine, so I see this series as an experiment in that direction. Without the resources to produce original footage, I decided to explore using scenes from my favourite films to express the cinematic worlds behind my music.

INSPIRATION & COMPOSITION

I composed Quantum Crescendo after visiting the Observatory in Berlin to watch the lunar eclipse. As a star-gazer and sci-fi fan, I have always wanted to create an epic sci-fi inspired track, and that evening gave me the inspiration I was looking for.

The track features classical sounds mixed with contemporary percussion, delivered in a fast, explosive, electronic style. It tells a story of exploration, struggle, and triumph, mirroring humanity’s fascination with the universe and our recent rapid progress in understanding it.

I took my tripod to the eclipse that night and while others were taking pictures of the moon, I turned my camera toward the observatory to capture the atmosphere of the moment. For the cover art, I chose my favourite shot from the evening, which balances wonder and optimism with a brutalist Berlin edge.

FILM SUPERCUT

For the supercut, I used footage from my favourite sci-fi films: Contact, Arrival, and Interstellar, plus a stunning Sea Dragon launch from the TV show For All Mankind.

Initially, I planned to simply use visually striking clips but I quickly realised that approach lacked the sentimental value I wanted, so I changed strategy. I decided to tell a coherent, human story from each of the three two-hour films. Condensing this into a four-minute edit was challenging, but I’m very happy with the result and I hope you enjoy the supercut below:
