The lost recipe and the curry-cult mums of Wedding
Welcome (back) to The Homo Post, resurrected
November 2025
After pulling the plug in July 2025, The Homo Post is back from the dead. What started as a lockdown project for recipes and queer musings quietly closed when I decided I couldn’t justify the cost of keeping it alive. Then, thanks to a plea from an unexpected audience, I decided to revive it. Think of this as the recovered file. The Matrix resurrected, so to speak.
I made The Homo Post back in 2020 during lockdown. At first, I just wanted somewhere to host my recipes that friends and family always asked me for, but then I realised I had a lot to say on some LGBTQ topics and decided to make it into a whole thing.
I poured my heart into it and learned how to use Wordpress so I could design and build it all from scratch. Coming from a design background, pre-made templates were never going to satisfy me.
I shared some really personal stories and my favourite recipes, and I put a huge amount of work into doing it properly and organising everything in a way that was scalable in case it ever became big.
Unsurprisingly, work ended up consuming my life and I stopped posting. After being made redundant, I went to school for music production and have been putting all of my energy into that and trying to find a new full-time job.

Considering my financial situation and that I hadn’t posted for a while or seen much engagement anymore, I couldn’t justify the €600 per year it was costing me to keep the site alive. In July 2025 I decided to close The Homo Post and focus on my music and creative direction. It was a really difficult decision and I was so sad to see some of the articles that I was most proud of disappear.
A few months later, a friend I used to work with reached out with the funniest story I’ve heard all year - a group of mums from Wedding, Berlin had become obsessed with my Chicken Tikka Masala recipe. They tracked me down, found my new website and realised that one of the mums had worked at the same place as me in the past. They asked if she knew me because they wanted to get the recipe again after it became the dish they all cook for their families and guests.
Having been trying to launch a music career and find new work, shouting into a void for two years has been really difficult, and I spiralled into depression (again).
Hearing that I had a mini audience of people who appreciated work I was proud of was music to my ears. (Really ladies, thank you very much.) Thanks especially to Lorna for hunting me down and making me feel like my work was worthwhile again.
Since there is a demand, and I was sad to see my content disappear, I decided to make a low-rent micro version of The Homo Post with only the best rated posts, hosted within my new website - just for those who care. I’ve done my best to recreate the design within the limitations of Wix. It’s not as sexy and sleek as it used to be, but perhaps I took all of that too seriously before anyway.
So if you’ve just found me for the first time, or you’re an old fan who’s trying to put dinner on the table / figure out how to navigate the queer underworld (😅), welcome to the forever home of The Homo Post, resurrected. 💖

Yes Murat!! We are so happy to see you're back. Your recipe has reached places far and wide. The Wedding mums would love to cook it for you one day as a thank you. Isn't it funny how sometimes we don't realise that the work we do makes a real impact? A good reason to never give up 💪
Hey! So happy you’re back — who knew my Chicken Masala obsession last week would lead to such a nice outcome? 😅 Thanks a lot for all your work, really appreciate it!❤️
